The write-up below was written in November 2011. A few things have changed since then. I’m not walking anymore, or not like that. I’m 25. I’m roaming again, and writing a book about my year on the road. But most everything else remains the same: still a wonderer, wanderer, whathaveyou; still trying to explore inside and out; still grateful and awed.
Rewinding back to November 2011:
My name is Andrew Forsthoefel and I’m a 23-year-old wonderer, wanderer, whathaveyou from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Middlebury College in May, 2011 with a degree in Environmental Studies, and having finished school, I wanted to do something that would both affect others in a positive way and satisfy my own need to explore the worlds inside and outside of myself. After working on a lobsterboat in Massachusetts for the summer, I began this listening walk as a way to try and make this happen. The project has been growing since I was young, undergoing many different iterations throughout the years, so it’s with deep gratitude and awe that I am living this dream.
